21 Sep, 2017 Kurukshetra popular land of Bhagavad Gita. It is located in Haryana almost 170 km north of the capital of the nation that Delhi. It is a popular pilgrimage site and attracts the methodical lovers from all parts of the world. It is known by various names like the land of Brahma - Brahma Kshetra, Brahmadevi, Uttara Devi and others. Here the battle between Kauravas and Pandavas had been fought. According to the epic book of Hinduism - Mahabharata it is believed that here Lord Krishna (who also the Sarthi of Arjuna in the battle) recited Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna.
Based on the trenches and excavations it is said that Kurukshetra existed even before the Harappan Civilization. According to the facts and ancient books, it is the center of learning and Vedic Civilization.
Kurukshetra was also famous as Thaneshwar or Sthaneshwar which means the place of God in Sanskrit. It holds the religious importance and counted as one of the oldest cities of India. The place is named after the Kuru who was the ancestor of Kauravas and Pandavas and from the Bharata Dynasty. Not only for the battlefield this place also have famous sightseeing points that are listed below:

Bharmasarovar: It is believed that Lord Brahma itself created the tank belted by Ghats. On the north corner of the river, there is a shrine devoted Lord Shiva and it is believed that Lord Brahma itself placed the lingam in that shrine. This Sarovar is also known as “Mini Sea”. It is one of the Asia’s largest man-made the bathing tank and India’s largest ceremonial tank. Largest Bronze Chariot of the world is in the mid of this Sarovar which made Bharmasarovar a must visit place.

Jyotisar: It is the point where the virat roop of Lord Krishna is revealed to Arjuna in Kurukshetra where Lord Krishna cleared all doubts of Arjuna through Bhagavad Gita which helped him to fight with great warriors.

Bhishma Kund: This large reservoir is dedicated to Bhishma - the forefather of Kauravas and Pandavas.

Other popular attractions are KOS Minars, Sthaneshwar Mahadeva Temple, Sheikh Chilli’s Tomb, Raja Harsh Ka Tila, Bhadrakali Temple, Kurukshetra Panorama and Science Center, Shrikrishna Museum and Chhichhia wildlife sanctuary. Kurukshetra is really a great place to visit to know about the facts of Mahabharata and a very famous battlefield in India.
